CBC News Speaks with YES CEO Lang on New Drop in Employment

CBC News spoke with YES President & CEO Timothy Lang regarding Stats Canada’s latest employment figures that showed a drop of 33,000 jobs from last year. Lang stated that this time of year, it is not unusual to see a reduction in employment right before the typical increase in spring, with more seasonal work and businesses in many sectors increasing their operations. Still, Lang said, “The Trump tariffs are definitely increasing a sense of uncertainty, and some businesses are on pause with hiring to see what happens.” “This is also the perfect time to reskill and retool for many job seekers,” said Lang, “and places like YES, who offer free services, help people achieve that.”
